The PCT is planning to invite bids through a formal procurement process to provide additional NHS Primary Care Dental Services in Herefordshire. NHS Herefordshire currently provides NHS access to dental care for approximately 62% of its population. It is on target to increase this to 64% by March 2011.
As part of enabling us to deliver this growth NHS Herefordshire will be undertaking a tender exercise, inviting prospective dental providers to bid for additional capacity. This would include existing and prospective NHS and non-NHS providers. This has been informed by analysis of need undertaken by the Public Health Directorate to identify gaps in provision.
NHS Herefordshire is procuring these services as part of a coordinated Strategic Health Authority procurement programme. The provisional timeframe includes the following milestones:
The Dental Access Programme is coordinated and programme managed by the Strategic Health Authority. They will organise a number of events for potential dental providers who may have an interest in tendering for these services.
The deadline for expressions of interest was on 27th November 2009. Bidders will now receive details of the next stage automatically via the e-procurement system e-bravo.
A workshop for potential providers who have already registered an expression of interest will be held on the evening of Tuesday 15th December 2009 at the Centennial centre in Birmingham. To register for this event please book online at www.pcc.nhs.uk/events/1578.
